Membership Update: December 2020

As 2020 comes to a close the CUPE 503 Executive wanted to take a moment and thank each and every one of our members for your contributions to our communities over the last year. Living and working during the COVID-19 pandemic has been very difficult. The added pressures each and every day are overwhelming at times, however your contributions do not go unnoticed. We thank you for your commitment to helping our communities run and we wish you all a safe and happy holiday season.

CUPE 503 Office Operations

The CUPE 503 Office will be closed effective December 24th and will re-open on Monday, January 4th 2021. All Employers have been informed of our annual office closure. CUPE 503 staff will continue to work remotely to service our members effective January 4th 2021. You can either contact the office main line at 613-230-2456 or email [email protected].

City of Ottawa Inside Outside Collective Agreement Bargaining

December 17th 2020 was the last day scheduled for the fall session of bargaining with the employer. The Bargaining Team has proposed adding a few additional dates to the employer for January 2021. Dates are currently being looked at with the goal of reaching a tentative agreement.

City of Clarence Rockland Collective Agreement Bargaining

December 21st is the last day for City of Clarence Rockland Members to complete the bargaining survey to help inform the Bargaining Team of your priorities. Dates have been scheduled in January with the employer to negotiate the collective agreement that expires December 31st 2020.

Ottawa Public Library Collective Agreement Bargaining

The OPL Bargaining Team has been convened and a mail out and email with the survey link will be distributed to Ottawa Public Library members on January 4th, 2021. There will be a two week turnaround for the survey and then the Bargaining Team will review the results and work on developing proposals for our package. The Local and the Employer are currently working on establishing dates. With COVID-19 it is more important than ever for the Local to have your PERSONAL email address and we ask that members contact Heather at [email protected] to be added to our e-mail list.

City of Ottawa Part-time Recreation & Culture Collective Agreement Bargaining

Our Bargaining Team has been established and very early in the new year will be finalizing the membership survey to develop proposals. Given the amount of transitions with this particular unit and COVID-19 it is more important than ever for the Local to have your PERSONAL email address and we ask that members contact Heather at [email protected] to be added to our e-mail list. We will be completing a mail out as well as an email blast with the survey link. 

Forest Hill Long Term Care and Embassy West Retirement Residence

The membership surveys are currently being finalized and will be distributed to members in January 2021. The Local has served notice to bargain and is currently seeking dates to bargain from the Employers.

We wish everyone a Happy New Year! We have updated the Meeting Schedule for 2021 under the “Members” tab and will be making decisions month by month as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves. We will continue to use the website for monthly updates and emails for specific unit updates as bargaining continues.
