Bargaining Updates:
CUPE 503 Members at the Ottawa Public Library:
Your CUPE 503 Ottawa Public Library Bargaining Team hosted two hybrid Bargaining Update Membership Meetings on the Sunday Scheduling/Core Hours issue that is very important in this round of negotiations. A communication was sent out at noon today (April 16th, 2025) for all OPL CUPE 503 members we have personal emails for with next steps. The deadline for members to respond is Thursday, April 17th at 5pm as your Bargaining Team heads back to the table with the Employer on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025.
CUPE 503 Members at Ottawa Community Housing:
Your CUPE 503 Ottawa Community Housing Bargaining Team had had three dates with the Employer so far and returns to the table on Tuesday, April 22nd and then April 28th and 29th 2025. Your Bargaining Team hosted a hybrid Bargaining Update Membership Meeting on Tuesday, April 8th. Your Solidarity Action to support your Bargaining Team on April 10th was impressive with a high level of participation and your Bargaining Team is feeling supported heading back to the table next week.
CUPE 503 Members in the City of Ottawa Inside/Outside Collective Agreement:
Your CUPE 503 City of Ottawa Inside/Outside Bargaining Team exchanged proposals with the Employer on Wednesday, March 19th 2025. We have had a total of 4 dates so far with the Employer and head back to the table Thursday, April 17th 2025. Dates are scheduled with the Employer until the end of May 2025. Updates will be provided to members throughout the process and if necessary additional Hybrid Membership Engagement sessions will be held.
CUPE 503 City of Ottawa Part-time Recreation & Culture and Summer Aquatics Members:
Your CUPE 503 Bargaining Team has confirmed exchange of proposals dates with the Employer for both these Collective Agreements on April 23rd, 2025. We will be hosting a Hybrid Review of Proposals Meeting on Wednesday, April 16th from 6:00-7:30pm for 503 Part-time Recreation and Culture members and from 7:30 to 8:30pm for 503 members who are in the Summer Aquatics Collective Agreement.
CUPE 503 Members at Forest Hill Long Term Care Bargaining Update:
Your Bargaining Team had two dates with the Employer on March 26th and 27th 2025. A freely negotiated Collective Agreement has not been reached and the outstanding issues will be referred to Interest Arbitration for resolution. Once we have the dates for the Arbitration we will provide an update to the Forest Hill membership.
Embassy West Retirement Residence:
On April 24th 2024 the CUPE 503 Bargaining Team met with the provincially-appointed Conciliator and the Employer and bargaining reached an impasse. The outstanding matters for the new collective agreement will be referred to Interest Arbitration. The Parties have come to an agreement on the selection of an Arbitrator and the parties will meet July 10th 2025.

Our CUPE 503 Annual Golf Tournament has been confirmed for Thursday, August 14th with a shotgun start at 1pm at Manderley on the Green. Registration will open Monday, July 14th at 9am and we will send out the poster with additional details soon.
