On Saturday November 9th, the Ottawa Coalition of Community Houses held their first annual MAKE iT Club STEAM Fair at the Confederation Education Centre.
They provided transportation to children and their families from 12 community housing neighbourhoods across Ottawa. The children were treated to a fun and educational day which included: a giant slingshot, 3D Virtual Reality adventures, coding, 3D printing, Science Fair, and more!
The Community House’s MAKE iT Clubs have been offering STEM+Arts programming in after school and summer camps for 4 years. These programs aim to get at-risk kids interested in STEM and build their confidence. Not only are these programs very beneficial to skill development and career planning but they are also very fun and exciting for the children!
