Membership Update: April 2024

Bargaining Updates:

City of Ottawa Aquatics:

The final English version of the signed Collective Agreement has been on the CUPE 503 website.

Forest Hill Long Term Care:

We have received the Interest Arbitration Award and have sent out a summary to all Forest Hill members who we have personal email addresses for. The Parties are now working toward finalizing the Collective Agreement language so it can be posted on the CUPE 503 website. A communication will be sent out to all Forest Hill CUPE 503 members who we have personal email addresses for regarding the union’s next step regarding the implementation of the Arbitration Award.

Embassy West Retirement Residence:

A Ministry of Labour Conciliator has been appointed to meet with the Parties to discuss the outstanding items in this round of negotiations. Dates have been set for April 25th and 26th 2024.

Sandfield Place:

An Arbitrator has been appointed by the Ministry of Labour and an arbitration date has been set for May 2024.

Ottawa Humane Society:

The Parties have appointed their nominees to sit on the Interest Arbitration Panel and are working toward an Arbitrator and establishing an Arbitration date to hear the outstanding items for this round of negotiations.

Champlain HCCSS:

A central table was organized for the CUPE 503 HCCSS members with respect to the re-opener clause for wages as Bill 124 has been deemed by the courts as unconstitutional. The 503 Bargaining Team was at the central table in Toronto January 24th & 25th 2024. A resolution to the re-opener clause was not able to be reached at the table. At this time we do not have dates set to return to the Central Table as the Ontario Treasury Board has informed the Central Table their mandate has not changed since the table late January.

City of Clarence Rockland:

The CUPE 503 Bargaining Team has met with the Employer for 8 days of bargaining so far. More dates are currently being proposed to continue with this round of negotiations. This has been a difficult round so far and an updated communication to our CUPE 503 Clarence Rockland members will sent out by email on Monday.

Other Work Underway:

CUPE Ontario Public Health Campaign
