Other Work Underway:
CUPE Ontario Support Our Care Campaign
For years, Ontario’s Conservatives have severely underfunded health care in Ontario. Health care workers have been critically underpaid and overworked, and are facing exhaustion, stress, and burn out.
And while public sector wages have been curbed for more than a decade through a combination of underfunding and legislation, the cost of living has grown so bad that many public sector workers are taking on second jobs, using food banks, or are leaving the jobs they love for better paid work elsewhere.
We need to fix health care in Ontario.
The CUPE Ontario Health Care Workers’ Coordinating Committee (HCWCC) has launched the Support Our Care petition, aiming to get 60,000 signatures in person by the end of 2024. It’s an ambitious goal, we know. But we need to show the Ontario government that Ontarians support investing in our health care workers and our health care system!
The HCWCC is hosting Days of Action this summer all across the province, and we need you to come out and help make them a huge success and collect all those petition signatures! And enjoy food from these great vendors!
The Area 5 Action will be – July 26, noon-4pm at the Pop Up Shop – C Container (corner of 1st and Pitt St, across from Mexi’s), Cornwall. The Food Vendor is Heavenly Dreams Ice Cream.
Save the Date:
Our next Hybrid General Membership Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17th at 7pm.
