Membership Update: June 2023

Bargaining Updates:

City of Ottawa Inside Outside Collective Agreement Printing: 

The City of Ottawa Inside Outside Collective Agreement Booklets have arrived (finally)! Our Office Hours at 1505 Carling Ave are 8:30am to 4:00pm for the summer so please pop by and pick up a copy and bring some to your workplace for your coworkers. As well the Final Signed Collective Agreement is on the CUPE 503 website here https://cupe503.com/collective-agreements/

City of Ottawa Part-time Recreation & Culture Collective Agreement Arbitration:

We are now working on a final draft of the updated Collective Agreement with the Employer to be able to post it on the CUPE 503 website.

City of Ottawa Aquatics: 

An Arbitration date to resolve the outstanding items for the Collective Agreement has been set for 17 October 2023.  

Ottawa Public Library Collective Agreement:

The Union received a quote for the printing of the Collective Agreement from the Employer on Thursday, March 16th2023 and it was approved the same day. The Employer is now advancing the printing to the vendor and when we receive copies we will provide an update to the members.

Forrest Hill Long Term Care:

The first date of bargaining was February 28th 2023. Negotiations have broken down and a Ministry of Labour Conciliation Officer was appointed, the No Board was issued and this round of negotiations will be proceeding to Interest Arbitration for resolution.

Embassy West Retirement Residence:

Embassy West CUPE 503 Members have completed their Bargaining Survey and the Bargaining Team has commenced prep days to review the survey results and start developing proposals. Bargaining commences with the Employer in July. A communication will go out early next week with details of the Ratification of Demands meeting scheduled for Monday, July 10th 2023 for Embassy West members.

Sandfield Place:

The Sandfield Place Bargaining has commenced with the Employer Monday, June 20th 2023.

Ottawa Sports & Entertainment Group:

The Bargaining Team is working to secure an additional date with the Employer to continue working on the outstanding items in this round of bargaining.

Other Bargaining in the coming months:

The Local will be pulling together a Bargaining Team and Member Survey the Ottawa Humane Society as this Collective Agreement and are working to secure bargaining dates with the Employer.

CUPE 503 Golf Tournament

On Thursday, August 17th 2023 CUPE 503 will be hosting our Annual Golf Tournament at Manderley on the Green. Teams should arrive at 12 Noon and at 1pm is the Shotgun Start.

Registration for your foursome will commence Monday, July 17th at 9am with payment in CASH for your team at CUPE 503 Office, 1505 Carling Ave – 1st Floor.

Golf, Cart & Dinner Package will be $65.00 per player = $260.00 per foursome.

Space is available for the first 216 Players

Saturday, July 15th 2023 – 4pm Kickoff

CUPE 503 in the News

This month CUPE 503 Secretary-Treasurer Carrie Lynn Poole-Cotnam was interviewed by CBC Ottawa and CTV Ottawa regarding the Ottawa Paramedic Service report that amplified the calls for increased staffing levels of the service to deal with the growing call volume and systemic issues of offload delays, burnout, workplace injuries on the rise and Level Zeros surging.
