Membership Update: October 2022

It has been a very busy October and Municipal Elections are coming up next Monday, October 24th 2022. The CUPE 503 Membership reaches from Cornwall to Pembroke and engaging as public sector workers and residents in this local level of democracy in your communities is very important. We’ve developed a Municipal Election Resource Guide for those members who have been waiting to cast their ballot in Monday’s Municipal Election for you to review.

Bargaining Updates:

City of Ottawa Part-time Recreation & Culture Collective Agreement

The Interest Arbitration date is set for next week, October 24th 2022.

For members in this Collective Agreement, if we are able to achieve wage increases through mediation or through the Arbitration Award and they are adjusted retroactively members will receive them even if they have wrapped up their employment with the City. Typically, the Arbitration Award speaks to how fast retroactive adjustments should be paid by the Employer and the standard can be between 60-90 days from the Award being received.

Ontario Health Champlain HCCSS

Your Bargaining Team has met with the Employer on Wednesday October 5, 18th and 19th 2022. The Team will be discussing next steps and we will send out a communication to HCCSS CUPE 503 Members when we have an update.
