Membership Update: September 2022

City of Ottawa Part-time Recreation & Culture Collective Agreement

The Employer and the Union Bargaining Team have not been able to reach a tentative agreement at this time and we have scheduled the Interest Arbitration for October 24th 2022. The Parties may continue to bargain up to the Interest Arbitration date. It is generally 2-3 months after an Interest Arbitration date to receive the final Award from the Arbitrator.

For members in this Collective Agreement, if we are able to negotiate or through the Arbitration Award if wages are adjusted retroactively members will receive them even if they have wrapped up their employment with the City. Typically, the Arbitration Award speaks to how fast retroactive adjustments should be paid by the Employer and the standard can be between 60-90 days from the Award being received.
