Bargaining Updates:
Embassy West Retirement Residence:
On April 24th 2024 the CUPE 503 Bargaining Team met with the provincially-appointed Conciliator and the Employer and bargaining reached an impasse. The outstanding matters for the new collective agreement will be referred to Interest Arbitration. The Parties continue to work on selecting an Arbitrator and a date for the Interest Arbitration to take place.
Ottawa Humane Society:
An Arbitration date to hear the outstanding items for this round of negotiations has been set for September 30th 2024.
City of Clarence Rockland:
Your Bargaining Team has had 14 days of bargaining so far with dates on July 29-30-31 and August 1st 2024. Your Bargaining Team has taken the next step in the process of filing for Conciliation with the Ministry of Labour. A Ministry appointed conciliator has been appointed to meet with the Parties and to work toward a negotiated agreement. Currently dates in late November are being considered. The Employer has reached out to the Union to continue to bargain in advance of the conciliation date and dates in mid-October are being considered. We will provide a more robust update to the members once things have been confirmed and next steps for you to support your bargaining team during this critical time to get a fair deal negotiated.
Preparing for Upcoming Bargaining:
This Fall preparation is underway for 6 different bargaining tables: City of Ottawa Inside/Outside, Part-time Recreation & Culture, Aquatics, Ottawa Public Library, Ottawa Community Housing and Forest Hill Long Term Care. Strategy Sessions that will focus on coordinating timelines, bargaining teams being established, training, survey development and distribution for high participation and building our communication infrastructure to engage our members in supporting our bargaining teams are the focus.
