Bargaining Updates:
CUPE 503 Members at the Ottawa Public Library:
CUPE 503 OPL Members and the Employer have ratified the three year tentative agreement over the summer. The Employer is now working on implementation the new Collective Agreement that was achieved this round of bargaining.
CUPE 503 Members at Ottawa Community Housing:
On October 2nd your Bargaining Team heads to the table with the Employer and the provincially appointed Conciliation Officer to try to achieve a fair deal for CUPE 503 OCH members. A Membership Engagement meeting was held September 10th and a communication detailing the actions and training for Solidarity September was sent out to OCH members.
CUPE 503 Members in the City of Ottawa Inside/Outside Collective Agreement:
Your CUPE 503 City of Ottawa Inside/Outside Bargaining Team returned to the bargaining table wth the Employer on Monday, September 8th. On Wednesday, September 10th we met with the provincially appointed Conciliation Officer and CUPE 503 Bargaining Team has filed for a No Board which starts the process to head to Arbitration. Your Bargaining Team has communicated to the Employer that as long as there continues to be progress at the table we will continue to bargain. The Bargaining Team has dates scheduled for the week of September 22nd 2025.
CUPE 503 City of Ottawa Part-time Recreation & Culture and Summer Aquatics Members:
CUPE 503 Members in the Part-time Recreation Culture and Summer Aquatics Collective Agreements ratified the Tentative Agreement by your Bargaining Teams. The Employer has communicated they will be executing their ratification process on September 24th 2025.
Sandfield Place Long Term Care:
The first date of bargaining is scheduled for October 1st 2025 and a second date has been scheduled for December 12th 2025.
Forest Hill Long Term Care:
The Interest Arbitration date has been set for March 25th 2026 for a new Collective Agreement for Forest Hill members.
Embassy West Retirement Residence:
On April 24th 2024 the CUPE 503 Bargaining Team met with the provincially-appointed Conciliator and the Employer and bargaining reached an impasse. The outstanding matters for the new collective agreement were referred to Interest Arbitration. The Parties came to an agreement on the selection of an Arbitrator and the parties met July 10th 2025. A second Arbitration date was held Tuesday, August 12th 2025 and now a third date has been scheduled for the Interest Arbitration on October 14th 2025.
Government of Ontario and City of Ottawa Return to Office Mandate:
Members at Champlain Ontario Health atHome and City of Otawa have been impacted by announcements of hybrid work arrangements coming to an end. The President has sent letters to both the Champlain Ontario Health at Home Senior Management Representatives and the City of Ottawa Manager’s Office regarding these announcements and has requested detailed information of the impact to members, assurances that office spaces will be safe for all workers including set up to meet ergonomic needs of 503 members.
