Membership Update: August 2022

Dear CUPE 503 Members,

City of Ottawa Part-time Recreation & Culture Collective Agreement

The Employer and the Union Bargaining Team have not been able to reach a tentative agreement at this time and we have scheduled the Interest Arbitration for October 24th 2022. The Parties may continue to bargain up to the Interest Arbitration date. It is generally 2-3 months after an Interest Arbitration date to receive the final Award from the Arbitrator.

For members in this Collective Agreement if we are able to negotiate or through the Arbitration Award if wages are adjusted retroactively members will receive them even if they have wrapped up their employment with the City. Typically, the Arbitration Award speaks to how fast retroactive adjustments should be paid by the Employer and the standard can be between 60-90 days from the Award being received.

Ontario Health Champlain HCCSS

Your Bargaining Team will host 4 Zoom Information Sessions to dig deeper into what is ahead for this round of negotiations and what next steps the HCCSS Membership is willing to take. We encourage members to register for one session. This will keep our numbers reasonable for information sharing.

August 29th 2022 Session 1 – 12 Noon to 1pm

August 29th 2022 Session 2 – 1pm to 2pm

August 31st 2022 Session 3 – 12Noon to 1pm

Please email [email protected] and indicate which session you would like to register for and you will be sent the Zoom registration link.
