Membership Update: June 2026

Bargaining Updates:

CUPE 503 Members in the City of Ottawa Inside/Outside Collective Agreement:

Your CUPE 503 City of Ottawa Inside/Outside Bargaining Team met with the Employer June 8th and 10th 2026. A tentative collective agreement for the members to vote on has not been reached. The Employer did not bring forward a revised proposal regarding general wage increases. This means we are proceeding to Arbitration on October 6th for both parties to do presentations of the outstanding issues to be decided by the Arbitrator and as per the normal Arbitration process this will also include the Arbitrator awarding the items that were freely negotiated by the parties and signed off through the bargaining process. Your Bargaining Team was able to reach an agreement with the City for meetings to be held with the City Inside/Outside membership and the CUPE 503 Bargaining Team to present all of the matters were achieved at the table and what is outstanding. While it is not anticipated, in the event the City wishes to revise their proposals on the outstanding matters the parties can return to the bargaining table up until the arbitration date. We are currently working to schedule hybrid meetings for the first half of July for departments that have specific sections in the Collective Agreement as well as a General Meeting. The meetings will be held in-person at the CUPE 503 Office at 1505 Carling Ave and on Zoom. A communication announcing the meeting dates and the Zoom links will be coming out in the upcoming weeks.

Sandfield Place Long Term Care:

The Union has filed for a No Board and the parties have agreed to October 26th 2026 as an Interest Arbitration date and your Bargaining Team remains ready to return to the table to continue negotiations. The Union has also commenced the legal process with the Ministry of Labour regarding representation rights for the new Long Term Care facility the Employer has opened.

The Interest Arbitration date was held March 25th, 2026 for a new Collective Agreement for Forest Hill members. We are now awaiting the Arbitrator to  provide the Interest Arbitration Award; this process usually takes up to 3-4 months.
