Bargaining Updates:
Ottawa Community Housing:
On Tuesday, April 26 representatives from Jewitt McLuckie & Associates completed the ratification ballot count for the Ottawa Community Housing Tentative Collective Agreement and the members have accepted the agreement. Congratulations to the OCH Bargaining Team.
City of Ottawa Part-time Recreation & Culture:
The Employer has provided an update to the Union that they are finalizing a comprehensive package for the Bargaining Team to review. We are working towards additional dates to continue bargaining in the coming weeks.
Sandfield Place Long Term Care:
An Arbitration date has been scheduled for May 27, 2022.
Forest Hill Long Term Care:
The Arbitration Award was received on April 14, 2022 for a two-year Collective Agreement covering the period of May 2, 2020 to May 1, 2022. Notice to Bargain has been provided to the Employer and the members of the bargaining team will begin preparation of Union proposals on June 8, 2022.
Champlain Ontario Health HCCSS (formally Champlain LHINS):
The Union has followed up with the Employer for bargaining dates with the Employer for the Local table. It appears based on recent communications by the Ministry of Health that bargaining is being stalled due to the current election period underway, however the Union continues to push to schedule dates post June 2, 2022.
Ottawa Public Library
As per the Minutes of Settlement for the Collective Agreement 2020 – 2024, within 90 days of ratification, the Parties will create a Terms of Reference for the establishment of a Joint Working Group (JWG) on Hours of Work including Sunday, composed of members of the bargaining unit, as chosen by the Union, and representatives from OPL, as chosen by management. CUPE 503 will have 4 seats on the JWG open for rank and file members of the OPL Bargaining Unit. The CUPE 503 Expression of Interest form deadline is May 30, 2022 and completed forms can be submitted to Tammy at [email protected].
Upcoming Important Dates:
All Members Telephone Town Hall: Wednesday, May 25, 7:00pm. Deadline for Registration is Friday, May 20, at 12 noon. Members can provide their full name, employer and telephone number they wish to be called on to Heather at [email protected]
June Membership Meeting: Tuesday, June 21, at 7pm will be the next Hybrid General Membership Meeting for members to join in person at 1505 carling Ave or on Zoom. Stay tuned for registration details.
There are no General Membership Meetings in July & August.
CUPE 503 Golf Tournament: Thursday, August 18, with a shotgun start at 1pm we will be hosting our annual golf tournament at Manderley on the Green. Registration will open Monday, July 18, 2022 at 9am.
Other Updates:
The Local completed Shop Steward Training on April 20, 21 and 22 and will also be running Advanced Shop Steward Training, to be held June 13 and 14, 2022.
