Membership Update: November 2022

Bargaining Updates:

City of Ottawa Part-time Recreation & Culture Collective Agreement

The Interest Arbitration date was set for October 24th 2022. The first half of the day was the required mediation before submissions to the Arbitrator. A second date is now required and we have secured December 16th 2022 with the Arbitrator.

Ontario Health Champlain HCCSS 

Your Bargaining Team has reached a Tentative Agreement with the Employer. A summary of the agreement that was bargained under Bill 124 will be sent to members with a ballot and we will also be scheduling Zoom ratification meetings with the Bargaining Team. 

City of Ottawa Aquatics Collective Agreement

The Employer and the Local have scheduled bargaining dates throughout November and early December to negotiate a Collective Agreement.

City of Ottawa Inside/Outside Final Collective Agreement

The final version of the Collective Agreement is posted on the CUPE 503 website and the Employer will be proceeding with printed copies.

Ottawa Public Library Collective Agreement

The final version of the Collective Agreement is currently being exchanged for signatures and will be going to print and be posted on the CUPE 503 website shortly.

Forest Hill Long Term Care

We hosted a Forest Hill Members Meeting to prepare for the next round of bargaining on Monday, November 7th. Dates have been scheduled for late February 2023 with the Employer.

Riverpark Place Retirement Residence

A Riverpark Place members meeting to prepare for the next round of bargaining is scheduled for November 23rd 2022. 

Embassy West

Notice to Bargain has been served to the Employer and dates are currently being exchanged with the Employer. We will be hosting a Embassy West members meeting in the coming months once we have the dates for exchanging proposals confirmed.

Ottawa Sports & Entertainment Group operating as TD Place

Notice to Bargain has been served to the Employer and we will be convening a OSEG members meeting to discuss bargaining priorities before the end of the calendar year.

Engagement Opportunity for CUPE 503 Members on General Membership Meeting Attendance

At the General Membership Meeting held Tuesday, October 18th a Motion was passed on the floor that states the following:

“Local 503 shall strike a committee to study the barriers to union member attendance to General Membership Meetings.  The committee shall explore solutions and present them to the Union Executive by Jan 31, 2023.”

If you are interested in serving on the Committee please complete the Expression of Interest Form here. It is a fillable pdf file. We expect to schedule 2-3 meetings for the committee to undertake the work. If these meetings are scheduled during work with the Employer then Union Leave will be submitted for your participation. The meetings will take place in-person at the CUPE 503 Office located at 1505 Carling Ave, Ottawa. The deadline to submit the completed form is Wednesday, November 23rd 2022 at 4:30pm.
